Medha & Jules: A Multi-Culture Indo-French Wedding On The Backwaters Of Kerala
Originally Published on ShaadiWish
It is said that when love needs to make its way, everything else magically aligns. We believe it was the same for Medha & Jules. The duo met as 13-year-old classmates at an international school in Bengaluru. Medha had moved to the city from California and Jules from France. Little did they know that their childhood friendship would someday turn into a cosmic love story. After spending two years in the same school, they only reconnected many years later.
It was during the pandemic that Jules flew from France to Turkey, quarantined for 14 days, and then flew all the way to California to propose to his lady love in the middle of the desert. The two survived over seven years of moving between six countries, time zones, internships, jobs, and a global pandemic! Finally, Medha & Jules tied the knot amidst the stunning backwaters of Kerala in Bekal. With its palm-fringed beaches, picturesque backwaters and rich culture, the destination was exactly what this Indo-French couple had in mind.

Medha & Jules’s Holi Haldi
Medha & Jules kickstarted their wedding celebrations with a holi haldi ceremony. The couple planned it with an intention of it being a fun icebreaker to bring in both diverse families together. The decor too was impeccable and straight out of a Pinterest mood board!
The major highlight of Medha & Jules’s haldi was the addition of the Holi Party! The couple hosted a Holi themed haldi so that the guests could enjoy the vibrancy of powders amidst the lively atmosphere.
Medha & Jules surely made sure that the event transformed into a riot of colors, with guests joyfully smearing vibrant powders on each other, accompanied by dancing, flower showers, and laughter.
They included through a friendly cricket game, allowing everyone to mingle and enjoy playing together.
Diwali Themed Sangeet
Ditching the same old glitz and glamour theme on sangeet, Medha & Jules added an Indian touch with a Diwali-themed sangeet ceremony. Medha was all dolled up in a sunshine yellow lehenga while Jules complemented her in a maroon kurta ensemble.
They created an ambiance of warmth and festivity with the soft glow of candles illuminating the venue.
The couple danced their hearts out and also amped up the ceremony by an element of fun and friendly competition to the evening.
And, to further engage everyone, the duo organized interactive activities such as a saree-tying competition! So fun, right?
Medha & Jules Had A Serene Wedding Setup On The Backwaters Of Kerala
Amidst the lush green and backwaters of Kerala, Medha and Jules picked Taj Bekal to be their wedding venue. The duo wanted their wedding ceremony to be a blend of chaos and vibrancy of a traditional Indian wedding along with the serenity and charm of nature. Thus, making this a perfect wedding venue pick.
The wedding decor reflected the bride’s maternal South Indian lineage. Fresh flowers, banana leaves, and brass bells added to the rustic traditional charm of the wedding.
Bride – Medha wore a stunning Sabyasachi saree for her D-day and styled it with traditional pearl, guttapusallu and kundan jewellery. Medha wanted to keep her bridal look about something that reflected her sentiments and family heritage. She styled her look with her maternal grandmother’s pearl bangles from her wedding set and also added her mother’s gold bangles to the set. So, moving, isn’t it?
The groom on the other hand, looked dapper in an ivory sherwani which complemented the bride perfectly. He styled it further with a safa and green necklace.
Medha & Jules wanted their wedding to reflect the Kerala theme, which is why they started the ceremony with a procession of Kerala drummers who set the rhythmic tone, guiding Jules to be welcomed by Medha’s family.
Whereas, the bride arrived on a raft through the backwaters followed by a walk towards the mandap with her closest kins behind her.
The love birds finally sealed their love with a traditional Indian wedding and the pictures are simply amazing!

Boat Ride & Farewell Dinner Incorporating A Touch Of France
To take their celebration up a notch, Medha & Jules organized a backwater sunset cruise, allowing their guests to appreciate the natural beauty of Kerala’s waterways and unwind before the farewell dinner.
Medha dressed up in a stunning white gown and Jules looked handsome as he dressed down to casuals. We are awestruck with their gorgeous portraits.
This farewell dinner was set under a canopy of twinkling lights and was a moment of relaxation and reflection, marking the end of their weekend wedding.
To uplift the mood, the duo had a vibe going. Six months prior to their wedding, the couple encountered a talented singer in Jaipur. They made sure he was a part of their wedding celebration to set the tone for the night.
The couple made a grand entry and the pictures speak for themselves.
To add a unique touch, the couple opted for a cake made of cheese barrels, paying homage to Jules’ French heritage and showcasing their personal preferences of savory over sweet.
Medha & Jules celebrated the night away with cocktails and cakes!
We wish this gorgeous couple a very happy married life!
